See Your Goals, Achieve Your Goals
Can you believe that 2012 is halfway done? Time to revisit any goals you may have set for yourself back in January. I decided to make a
revised
vision board for the second half of 2012, with just a few updated goals and accomplishments. My favorite tool is a vision board. Have you ever created one? A vision board is a really great way to reinforce the goals and outcomes you wish for yourself for any period of time. They can take any shape, but most are done on poster boards or canvases and can include scraps from magazines, photos, newspapers, or just about anything! Ultimately a vision board is a representation of
you
, and what you wish to become or what you wish to surround yourself with. Some people make one vision board per goal or theme in their
life
, such as fitness, job-related, or a focus on a relationship(s). Or you could assign one theme per corner of the board. My vision board is mostly fitness oriented, and that’s clear from the assortment of magazines I used to create it!
Ready to create your own vision board? Let’s get started!
You will need:
1) A base: poster board, cork board, memo board. Poster board is best so the pictures can be glued tight.
2) A stack of magazines, newspapers, etc. You can easily find resources from your library, gym, your friends, doctor’s offices; you get the idea.
3) Glue or Mod Podge (and brush), and scissors
Get inspired:
1) Decide upon your intention for the board, this will dictate the design. What are your goals? Are you reflecting upon your accomplishments? Are you setting new goals? Mine is a mix between my accomplishments and future goals. I added some picturesque landscapes that inspire me. The dragon represents my zodiac and reflects many attributes that I identify with, plus it adds some variety!
2) Flip through the magazines and look for pictures, words, or phrases that inspire you. Just rip out entire pages, don’t think too hard about whether you will use it or how it fits with the theme. Don’t edit your work!
3) When you think you’ve collected a good amount, start with some larger pictures, words or themes. Or you may want to glue some scrapbook paper first for a nice looking design. The choice is yours.
4) Start cutting and affixing your inspiration and create a unique board, one that represents you or inspires you to achieve your goals.
Reflect:
Your board is of no use if you don’t reflect upon it from time to time. Be sure to place it in a visible location and marvel at your creation! Throughout the year, be sure to rip out scraps of phrases or pictures that continue to inspire you. Print out photos of your achievements!
Share your board! Upload to twitter or facebook and let me know how you liked the process!
