The Most Beautiful Woman I Know
When I started Beauty Revolution for young girls, I wanted to help them redefine beauty for themselves.
So I ask them to name some of the most beautiful women they know, and they begin to name models or
pop stars like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, or Angelina Jolie. But then I ask them about real women in their lives that they actually know and see, and they start naming their friends, their moms, and other women in their
life
. I ask them to tell me what makes them so beautiful. It amazes me when they say, “because they are always nice to me”, or “because she has red hair and freckles and no else looks like that”, or “My mom is beautiful to me because she always makes me feel better”.
Girls are smart. They instinctually know that what makes someone beautiful isn’t their outward looks, but inward beauty that is reflected by their uniqueness.
One of the most beautiful woman that I know is a friend of mine, Angelika. She isn’t “cookie cutter” perfect, but she’s beautiful to me! She complains about her rosacea and her stomach from two babies, but she stays in shape, eats healthy, and accepts her small imperfections. She’s always dressed up in a outfit that flatters her body type, long flowing skirts, stylish belts around her waist, bright pink lipstick, and my personal favorite, is when she puts flowers in her hair! She always celebrating her feminity and her uniqueness, never afraid to laugh and smile. Her love for
life
is very contagious and so is her passion for living a healthy
life
. She is always encouraging me to take an aerobics class with her, or to try some new health food. In fact, she got me hooked on doing a hip hop class at Lifetime Fitness with her! Her style is uniquely hers and that’s what makes her so striking!
Angelika
draws attention wherever she goes, not because she’s model perfect, but because she’s confident in herself and her happiness spreads to those around her.
I’ve tried to learn from her and use her style of long skirts and pink lipstick, and I always get compliments!! She’s taught me that I can dress up whenever I want, not just for special occasions, but just because I want to!
So be inspired by the real beauty that is around you every day. Learn to celebrate your own beauty and uniqueness, don’t try to copy the media image of beauty. Be yourself. Be your best
self
. That’s real beauty.
